Great Britain: Tesco equips staff employees with body cameras

British retailer Tesco (300,000 employees) is equipping store staff with body cameras, to counter the sharp rise in physical assaults by customers and to enhance safety.

In a letter published in the Mail on Sunday, Tesco’s Managing Director Ken Murphy claimed, without giving detailed figures, that physical assaults in stores had risen by 30% in a year. That’s why he hopes the use of body cameras will better protect staff that he considers “heroes in the shadows”.…
