EU: agreement reached on protective measures against lead and diisocyanates

The Council of the EU and the European Parliament have reached an agreement to strengthen the protection of workers against the health risks associated with exposure to lead and diisocyanates. The draft directive must now be formally adopted by the Council and Parliament.

On 14 November, the Commission adopted the measures designed to protect workers against the health risks associated with exposure to lead and diisocyanates. With regard to lead,  negotiators for the Council presidency and the European Parliament reached agreement on lowering the occupational exposure limit from 0.15 milligrams per cubic metre (0.15 mg/m3) to 0.03 mg/m3 and on a reduction in its biological limit value from 70 micrograms per 100 millilitres of blood (70 µg/100 mL) to 15 µg/100 mL.…
