United States: whistleblowers soon to be handed rewards?

A new whistleblowing programme is currently being trialled on the other side of the Atlantic. Whistleblowers could soon be rewarded for exposing misconduct within companies and financial institutions.

On 7 March, US Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco announced the trial of a scheme designed to better uncover corporate misconduct, notably by rewarding “whistleblowers”. Whistleblowers are people who report “significant” misconduct at a company or financial institution to the US Department of Justice, or a company reporting an employee who has broken the law. “We identify the most serious wrongdoers — individual and corporate — and focus our full energy on holding them accountable.…
