Italy: gender equality at heart of new footwear sector collective agreement

The social partners in Italy's footwear sector, which employs around 75,000 people, reached an agreement in July to renew their collective agreement. In addition to an average pay rise of €191, the new deal provides for progress in areas such as gender equality and work-life balance.

The agreement signed by the employers’ organisation Assocalzaturifici and the trade unions Filctem Cgil, Femca Cisl and Uiltec will apply retroactively from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2026. The previous national collective agreement (CCN) expired on 31 December 2023. The unions welcomed this “very satisfactory result”…
