Hugues Chanoine, Hygie31: “In a year, our retail media revenue jumped 25% to €1 million”

Expansion of a physical network, e-commerce upgrades, developing retail media, overhaul of digital tools... With little media exposure, the Hygie31 group—which operates 1,519 pharmacies and 5 websites in 7 countries—is undergoing a major transformation of an omnichannel ecosystem. With e-commerce accounting for 3.3% of business in 2024, the M.D. of the group's digital subsidiary, Hugues Chanoine, tells mind Retail about the new projects and future ambitions.

At Hygie31, e-commerce accounted for 3.3% of sales in 2024. How is it structured?

Last year, this division generated sales of €110 million, mainly in France, Germany, and the U.K. Hygie31 manages 5 sites spread across 4 different technical platforms. By the end of the year we want to change platforms, opting for a common single technical base to co-ordinate our tasks and IT investment. Most of our online sales come from Cocooncenter, a pioneer in online parapharmacy (dermo-cosmetics, skincare, dietary supplements, childcare). Last year, this generated revenue of €74 million. Launched in France in 2006, this website now operates in France, the U.K., Germany, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Poland. The site distributes 32,000 products (no marketplace model, Editor’s note). Two other websites each generate €8 million in revenue: Lasante.net (46,000 products) and PascalCoste-shopping.com (7,000 hair care products), acquired in early 2025. The Parapharmacie Lafayette website also generates €5 million in revenue through 25,000 products.…
