France: Allianz extends paid parental leave for staff

The French business of insurance giant Allianz announced in early November that it would increase the amount of paternity and maternity leave granted to its employees (12,000 in France) to five weeks for fathers and 22 weeks for mothers. These new commitments were ratified by a fifth agreement on professional equality signed this summer by Allianz, which saw its score on the professional equality index decline by two percentage points last year.

Female employees at Allianz in France will now be able to take 22 weeks of paid leave after the births of their first two children and 28 weeks after the third and subsequent children. These two figures represent an increase of two weeks when compared to the previous agreement and exceed by several weeks the leave allowance granted by law (16 and 28 weeks respectively).…
