SAP significantly waters down diversity programme

In response to US President Donald Trump's executive order to abolish diversity policies, the German business software leader has announced that it is scrapping its target of 40% women in its workforce by 2030, among other measures. SAP is the first major German company to align itself so clearly with the new US policy. Opponents of this "counter-revolution" are fearful of a knock-on effect.

SAP has decided to align itself with the US president’s executive order dated 21 January 2025 entitled ‘Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity’. Executive Order 14173 stipulates that civil rights should protect Americans from discrimination based on, for example, skin colour, religion or gender.
