EU: the Commission presents a strategic framework on health and safety for 2014-2020

Today, June 6, the European Commission presented its strategic framework on health and safety for 2014-2020, which identifies major challenges and strategic objectives in this area and defines a framework of action for itself as well as the Member States.  This new H&S strategy - more than 2 years after the previous one expired - refers to the need to address emerging risks but, mostly, intensifies and organizes the simplification of national regulations on the subject.

Two years have passed since the end of the previous strategy, 2007-2012 (see article No.  070166), and the Commissioner responsible for this area, László Andor, didn’t explain what took so long.  This 5-year program identifies topics on which the Commission is going to focus in organizing and coordinating national H&S policies.
