France: PwC using ‘Seed’ to encourage female promotion to management positions

In dealing with the reality of female underrepresentation, PwC France et Maghreb, the French division of the UK headquartered international professional services firm, has since 2018, been offering mentoring, sponsorship and upskilling to its female employees. The aim is to support women progress towards parity in top management, while also addressing working conditions.

In 2018, the PwC France and Maghreb division (6,250 employees) had only around 24% female representation among its more than 200 partners . “At that time, we observed a loss of female talent as we moved up the seniority ranks, in so far as 48% of our workforce comprises females,” shared Sophie Bayle, Senior Manager and coordinator of the Diversity & Inclusion program. Only 38% of the management team is female, and females now represent 27% of the partnership level (i.e. one third more than at the launch of the ‘Seed programme).…
