Aldi opens a compact urban format for London

The German discounter Aldi is piloting a smaller size store (600 sq.m) under a new banner called Aldi Local. This walk-in store is between a convenient grocery store and a typical Aldi supermarket (which cover 1,200 sq.m on average). Located in Balham, South London, it offers a reduced range of 1,500 products, 300 less than a typical Aldi supermarket.
