The meals-on-wheels giant from the Tencent Holdings Ltd group is in talks with the People’s Bank of China to test a virtual currency with customers. Meituan Dianping would join start-up Didi Chuxing to experiment with this digital yuan based within a digital wallet app. Like Didi, Meituan handles billions of transactions every day, from meal delivery to online travel services. China is aiming for global leadership in virtual currencies.
