In the U.S.A., the time is not suitable for major acquisitions. The No. 1 shopping centre operator Simon Property cancelled an acquisition of Taubman Centers (26 centres in the U.S. and Asia) for US$3.6 billion. According to Simon, the latter would have suffered an amplified damage from Covid-19 as some centres are highly reliant on revenue from tourism. However, Taubman described the cancelation attempt as unfounded, adding that Simon were still bound by the agreement.
