Portuguese retail group Jerónimo Martins plans to open up to 150 Biedronka supermarkets each year in Poland. The company operates 2,850 stores under the Biedronka banner in Poland following the purchase of five “Piotr i Pawel” stores. Biendronka recovered around 70% of sales lost due to Sunday closures introduced by Polish government in November 2017. Jeronimo Martins wants to develop fresh products and “food to go” which currently account for 40% of sales, moving this to 70% of sales.
