Areva, Alstom/Schneider Electric: European negotiation on social guarantees in the framework of the sale of Areva T&D

Social guarantees for T&D employees. The European Metalworkers’ Federation (EMF) received a unanimous mandate from its members present in the three companies affected by the operation. Thus, the organization may start negotiations with the managements to establish social guarantees in the framework of the sale of Areva T&D to Schneider and Alstom. The mandate is clear: “drawing on the guarantees already secured for Areva T&D with the aim of extending and reinforcing the same.” These guarantees were secured for the employees of the branch sold by Areva’s European group council (CGE) during a meeting on December 17, 2009, where Alstom CEO Patrick Kron and Schneider Electric deputy director general Jean-Pascal Tricoire were present. They’re the result of the battle fought by Areva’s European staff representatives against the sale of the T&D branch, since it was announced in June 2009 (see our dispatches No. 090641, 090811, and 091096).
