In a first for Argentina, an ESiGen (escuela sindical de género), a trade union educational establishment dedicated to gender issues, has been inaugurated in the country’s most populous province of Buenos Aires, and is scheduled to begin operations in February 2021. "New spaces must be built in order to combat macho traditions", Buenos Aires provincial governor Axel Kicill stated in remarks reported by the press. The ESiGen is a joint initiative of the CONICET government agency (National Scientific and Technical Research Council), the University of La Plata, the Buenos Aires province Ministry of Women, and the banking sector union.
