Argentina: health cover for workers in the informal economy
The first step has been taken towards setting up health cover for workers employed in Argentina’s ‘popular’ economy. The government has indicated, via the press, that it is positively oriented towards setting up ‘obra social’ (health cover) and is currently studying exactly how to put this in place. Originator of the request for this health cover, the Confederation of Workers of the Popular Economy (CTEP) suggests that it may be in operation by March 2017. This move represents a firm step forward in terms of labor rights and access to health cover.
