On 20 February, Argentinian president Javier Milei decided to increase the minimum wage by 30%, after the National Wage Council, which brings together the government, union representatives and chambers of commerce, failed to reach an agreement on 15 February. The minimum wage will rise from 156,000 to 180,000 pesos a month (€171 to €198), effective as of 1 February, then to 202,800 pesos (€223) on 1 March, at a time when annual inflation is running at more than 250%.
