The PRO-GE (industrial workers) and GPA-djp (private sector employees) trade unions and the FMMI, the main employers’ federation in the Austrian metal industry, came to an agreement on a salary increase of 2.1%, which is 0.4% more than the inflation rate used. The agreement, which was reached late into the night on 28 October, is valid for one year and the increase will be applied from November. Given that the FMMI is the largest of six employers’ federation in the sector, it is very likely that — as in previous years — the agreement will be taken up across the sector without any significant change.
After four meetings and a last round of negotiations lasting 11 hours, negotiators from the FMMI (the employers’ federation for the machinery and metal-ware industry) and the trade unions PRO-GE and DPA-djp came to an agreement on a 2.1% salary increase for the 120,000 employees in the member companies of the FMMI.
