73.3% of economically active Austrians indicate having worked under conditions that could provoke both physical and psychological problems. This is one of the results reported in an annual health and work survey published and presented last week by Statistics Austria. The report calculates its results based on forecasts and data from a survey of more than 18,000. The most frequently reported risk factors were eyestrain linked to screen based work and/or prolonged periods of concentration (35%)

Last week, Statistics Austria, the Austrian Statistics Office, published a report on health at work for 2013. In it is says almost one million economically active and retired workers (out of 6.5 million) have experienced a work-related physical or psychological problem. 4.2% of economically active (out of 4.5 million) had experienced at least one work-related accident in the year preceding the survey. Out of the 18,000 surveyed, 8 out of 10 indicated having been exposed to working conditions that could lead to health problems. The primary health problems were identified as those affecting bones, joints and muscles, followed by stress and depression.
