The Austrian trade union of textile and metal industries (GMT) and that of agriculture, food and restaurants merged, last 9 May. This new organization, called Gewerkschaft Metall-Textil-Nahrung (GMTN), has 230 000 members. (Réf. 06481)

This is the result of a process started in 2002, when the two organizations occupied the same building in Vienna. Thereafter, the regional offices of the two organizations also joined together under the same roof. The organization chose a logo, a name and new membership cards, which also enable participants to take part in a game. The trade union is chaired by Erich Foglar, elected by 98.3% of the 1200 union deputies.
