After bargaining for 8 months, unions and the management at ArcelorMittal reached, yesterday, a draft agreement on an industrial plan for the restructuring of its cold-processing line in Liege, for 5 years. The group is going to invest €138 million to modernize the tools, notably the development of vacuum plating technology, together with the region of Wallonia. It also agreed to create an investment fund to retrain the employment pool, with a €50 million budget (instead of €40 as initially planned), half of which will be brought by AM. The employment volume should shrink down to 840 workers and negotiations on the social chapter are now going to start. (Ref. 130577)
