On 8 November, the Council of Ministers approved on second reading a draft bill on minimum wages. This text, which has been submitted to the King to be signed with a view to being tabled in the House of Representatives, partially transposes the European directive on adequate minimum wages. It aims to encourage collective bargaining on wage setting in the private sector, and also provides for a right of appeal and protection in the event that workers’ rights in this area are violated.
