After one week of bitter debates, the management of ArcelorMittal and workers’ representatives, assisted by the Region of Wallonia, reached a “draft social agreement in principle” that maintains 945 jobs and also provides for the creation of a subsidiary with the Region, a knowledge cluster and a dismantlement company to save 400 more jobs. For the file to be closed, the fate of the 362 “pre-retirement” workers still needs to be determined by the consultative early retirement committee. (Ref. 130786)
