Belgium: joint union front calls general strike on January 30

Dialogue.  They denounce the lack of social dialogue that comes with the adoption and implementation of the measures.  Shortly after the government’s agreement in early December providing for measures to stabilize public finances and make working time more flexible (see our dispatch No.  110757), unions secured the opening of negotiations which they now see as a failure.  “Dialogue is at a standstill” said Didier Seghin from the CGSLB liberal union.  “We’re not nowhere, but progress is so slim.  Economy doesn’t mean austerity.  It is easy to target employees and welfare recipients, but you need to look for money a little everywhere.”
