A new law published in Belgium’s official journal on 18 April extends protection against dismissal for pregnant employees to people undergoing infertility treatment or medically assisted procreation. It applies to “male or female employees” and covers not only in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatments, but also all fertility-related treatments, such as medical assessment of sperm quality, egg donation procedures and hormone treatments.
