Belgium: stricter conditions to enjoy time credit but more flexibility for workers coming back from a long illness

Stricter award conditions. Within the framework of anticrisis measures, the Belgian government adopted measures to save up on time credit benefits. In Belgium, this system allows workers who want it to temporarily suspend their activity or reduce working time (by half or one fifth) while receiving benefits from the ONEM – National Employment Agency. To be granted time credit, employees have to have worked at least 75% of full time for 12 months.
