Belgium: the House of Representatives adopts the bill on information-consultation

After the agreement signed by social partners on November 23, 2007, about the modalities of information and consultation of workers in companies with less than 100 employees (see our article No. 070971), the bill presented by the government to implement this text and avoid another infringement procedure by the Court of Justice, was adopted by the house of representatives. To be permanently effective, it still needs to be approved by the senate. (Ref. 080263)

The bill aims at retrofitting the Belgian law which only
plans an information-consultation
system for companies with more than 100 employees whereas Directive 2002/14
requires that the modalities of information and consultation of workers by
introduced in establishments employing
at least 20 employees and undertaikings with at least 50 employees.
