On 15 February, Belgium’s coalition government unveiled a reform proposal aimed at, among other things, encouraging the emergence of new forms of work, better protecting platform workers, strengthening the right to training, and facilitating a better work-life balance. Among its measures is the right for employees to split their working time over four days.
The government is continuing to work through the coalition’s 2022 budget that was agreed in October 2021 (c.f. article No.12739). The 15 February 2022 agreement clarifies aspects of its flagship measure, which aims to establish a legal framework allowing employees to distribute unchanged working time over four days instead of five.
