In a press statement published on 28 March, EFFAT, the European Federation of Food, Agriculture and Tourism Trade Unions announced a new EWC agreement for the French vegetable processing producer (10,000 employees operating in 18 different countries with most business occurring in nine European countries). The new EWC broadens the definition of transnational and more precisely defines consultation.
On 22 March all members of the Bonduelle EWC together with EFFAT (closely connected with this EWC) signed a new agreement replacing the previous and much amended agreement that was originally signed in 2005. This EWC will come under the 2009 EU Directive and intends for consultation as a form of in-depth interaction between management and employee representatives that is based on a thorough analysis of the information provided using the time and resources necessary to effect the same.
