Brazil: almost three in four workers are stressed out

According to a study carried out by the UGT union, 73% of Brazilian workers are excessively stressed out at work, because of burnout, emergencies and hierarchal pressure. For three cases in four, stress degenerates into health troubles. (Ref. 080919)

The study carried out by the Brazilian
Observatory of psychosocial risks of the Uniao Geral dos Trabalhadores (UGT)
union shows that stress at work is notably due to the number of worked hours. 77%
of workers who work more than 40 hours a week are highly stressed. Overwork is
indeed the main cause for stress mentioned by the survey, based on the accounts
of 4.000 workers from different sectors. But the study gives other factors for
burnout: hierarchal pressure, emergency, uncertainty as to work
