Brazil: impact of final adoption of the Labor Code reform
On 13 July and as expected, Brazil’s President Michel Temer enacted the law that the Senate had adopted the previous week. Seen as the most significant reform since the establishment seventy years ago of the Labor Code (the Consolidação das Leis do Trabalho (CLT)) this new law will come into force within 120 days (November 2017). The new law will apply to all contracts and not just those signed after November.
