Briefly, Spanish union UGT has launched a platform for workers in the collaborative economy

After Germany’s IG Metall initiative (c.f. article No. 9064), it is the turn of Spain’s union confederation the UGT to offer web-based platform workers a specific site where they can “criticize conditions related to their precarious work.” For those within the union promoting the initiative, this represents ‘the first union section of its kind in the country’. Its goal is to be an information tool and a medium for making demands, organizing and criticizing. Workers in the collaborative economy will also have access to advice and a team will operate from Mondays through to Fridays answering questions in under 24 hours via mail, phone, and WhatsApp. In calling it “Tu respuesta sindical tout de suite” or, Your union question immediately answered, the UGT union clearly wants to “start slowing down the growth of these types of jobs that are damaging employment contracts by lowering workers rights.”
