Since May 19, 2007, workers of Trakia Glass Bulgaria, owned by the glassmaker Sisecam, are on strike to get renegotiation of the wage clause contained in the 2005 company agreement, in order to get a 95% raise on their basic salary. As for the management, it refuses any negotiations' opening, basing itself on the agreement in force, which already plans a system to improve wages according to inflation. As a reaction to this conflict, the parent company Sisecam it is threatening to stop investing in Bulgaria. (Ref. 070493)
The Trakia Glass Bulgaria company operates a complex with four glass production factories (cut crystal, flat glass, glass for shower cabins, glass used to build edifices…) located in the city of Turgovishte, which employs a total of 1,200 people.
