On November 2, the UFCW union announced that workers at H&M in Joliette, Québec had signed their first collective agreement, which expires in 2016 and improves pay conditions and personal leave provisions for part-time employees. It is the first-ever unionization agreement in Québec and the second in the country – the first being already with H&M in Mississauga in 2011. (Ref. 130708)
H&M, the Swedish multinational, has over 2,300 stores in 41 countries, including Canada where the company operates 56 locations in B.C., Alberta, Ontario and Quebec.
Negotiations. The application for certification was filed with the Quebec Labour Relations Commission following an enthusiastic card-signing campaign by associates and sales advisors at the Joliette location.
