The labor law reform is creating a new network of specialized courts. More than 7 million Chileans will potentially enjoy these courts which aim at taking decisions in case of industrial litigations, at defending workers and at facilitating dialogue between employers and employees. (Ref. 080262)

Pinochet’s regime, industrial
courts are being rehabilitated as part of the reform of the Chilean legal
system, entitled “Nueva Justicia Laboral ”.
Presented as a historical debt vis-à-vis workers, the reform was encouraged by
Ricardo Lagos’ government. Carried through by the current president, Michelle Bachelet,
the law No. 20.022 should overcome the lack of specialization in terms of
industrial justice, protect workers’ rights better and offer them
