Covid-19: mandatory workplace vaccination is gaining ground

While employees will gradually have to return to on-site/in-office working, mandatory workplace vaccination is currently under debate in many countries. Several governments are already making vaccination mandatory for health care workers and those working in settings with vulnerable people. Others, such as France, are even going further and require that a certain number of professionals who work in permanent contact with the public be vaccinated. Lastly, while some governments have not taken a particular position on the subject, private sector employers are taking the lead and making their employees’ return to the workplace conditional on their provision of proof of a complete vaccination schedule.

Health care workers. While Italy was the first European country to make Covid-19 vaccination mandatory for health care workers, others such as Serbia and Ireland are currently considering it. France also took action on 09 August with a new company-related health protocol in which it re-iterates that those working in health and social services settings have until 15 September to receive a vaccine, and until 15 October to complete their vaccination programs.
