Credit Agricole's management and the special negotiating body - established by an agreement in June 2007 to negotiate the establishment of a European works council (see our article No. 070797) - came to an agreement on January 30, 2008. After six months' negotiation, the French bank's approximately 142.000 European employees will be covered by a European representation body. (Ref. 080090)
The EWC is a “body for information and view exchange”, “in the sense of the dispositions of Directive 94/45/EC, and not in the sense of French law”, the agreement specifies. Dialogue concerns questions with a “transnational character” and a “strategic importance”. The agreement specifies that the council “aims at dealing only with questions concerning, directly or not, at least two States.”
