On May 29, the Croatian government sent to parliament several bills to adjust national laws to EU standards and get Croatia ready to join the European Union. The bills are on employment agency services, parental leaves and a reduction of social contributions for employers of young people. (Ref. 080525)
The
first bill is on employment agency services and the rights of unemployed
persons. Under the bill, private employment agencies can provide their services
to Croatian nationals in other countries which, until now, only the national
employment agency, HZZ, is allowed to do. The bill contains changes to the term
“unemployed person”, which is a person who responds to all calls by the HZZ
regarding a job offer, reports once a month to the HZZ, and participates in
activities relating to the profes
