One day after a warning strike (see our article n°070349), Skoda Auto management and the carmaker's unions reached a wage agreement. Skoda Auto, originally a Czech car manufacturer, is a member of Volkswagen group and is one of the biggest employers in the Czech Republic. Under the agreement, the basic wage will rise by 10% taking effect immediately until December 2008. (Ref. 070363)
After eight negotiation rounds, the workers demonstrated out of the factory for a few hours and cut the daily production by about one third. “At the end of difficult negotiations, we reached a fair compromise, acceptable for both the company and its employees.
