"We are currently confronted to the gradual dismantling to a large degree of Delphi's industrial activity in the EU", declared the European federation of metalworkers (EFM) about the American car equipment manufacturer, which in the US beneficiates from the protection of the law on bankruptcy. The federation supported, on May 21, an action day at the European level to express its solidarity to employees working on the Cadix site, in Spain, which is threatened of closure. (Ref. 070446)
“The action and solidarity day,” explained the EFM in a joint committee with the European Employee Committee (the company’s EWC,) “also aims at informing all of its employees of the current situation and of the way according which Delphi is dealing with the issue of restructuring with its European work’s council (called “European Employee Committee.”) Delphi’s EWC considers “that any information provided by Delphi on a restructuring process, as in the case of Puerto Real (Cadiz,) comes too late
