On May 26 the Danish parliament adopted new measures to combat social dumping in road transportation. One of the latest measures is that the pay and working conditions for foreign drivers of Danish registered vehicles must comply with Danish collective agreements. This measure should put an end to the practice of certain transporters who employ cheaper drivers from their Eastern European subsidiaries to drive in Denmark.
Details. The transport of merchandise on Danish roads can only be carried out by specifically authorized transporters (vognmandens kørsels-tilladelse). The drivers must be direct employees or recognized intermediaries registered with the country’s road traffic authorities (Trafikstyrelsen).
