Denmark’s postal operator has concluded an agreement with unions that modify various provisions in collective agreements. Following persistent negative results as a result of a dramatic drop in postal volumes, the operator has sought to ‘normalize’ its collective agreements in a bid to bolster competitiveness vis-à-vis its competitors. As a result of these changes, the postal group will save an estimated €21 million.
“A managed emergency landing”, is how Eigil Johannesen, president of the coordinated union movement PostNord de HK Post & Kommunikation called the agreement signed with Post Danmark in December 2015, although this was only made public this week following agreement from the union personnel delegates.
