On 22 May, the Danish Parliament approved, by 81 votes to 21, a bill that will raise the legal retirement age from 67 to 70 with effect from 2040, in order to maintain the balance of the system. The change will apply to everyone born after 31 December 1970. The retirement age will be raised gradually, firstly to 68 in 2030 and then to 69 in 2035.
