SAS pay a fine amounting to €120.691,32 for employing Asian stewardesses without a work permit outside of the Danish collective agreements (see our article No. 070316). Although unions rejoice with this sanction, they remain worried about a bill recently presented to Parliament which allows to employ foreign staff at reduced cost. (Ref. 080257)

31, the Copenhagen Court (Københavns Byret) condemned the Scandinavian airline
SAS to pay a 900.000-crown fine (€120.691,32) for employing Asian stewardesses –
for flights between Denmark, China and Japan – who didn’t have the mandatory
work permit.
The judgement. The public prosecutor requested a 2 million
crowns’ fine (€268.217) and another 5 million (€670.504) for the company’s
gains through the employment of foreign stewardesses. Unions rejoiced with the
judgment, seen as a victory
