Contrary to the general situation in Denmark of youth disaffection for trade unions, PROSA, the IT Professional labor organization, has seen its membership rise by 30% in the past five years. This union is successfully attracting younger members via a strategy that combines schools and universities activities with a broader sphere of influence and responsibility. As a result about half of PROSA’s current membership is under 35 years of age.
PROSA has seen its membership rise from 11,832 in January 2009 to 16,420 in December 2015, making a 30% rise in five years and at the same time the average membership has fallen to under 35. Most of Denmark’s other unions are undergoing a generalized hemorrhage in membership and a rising average membership age.
