Denmark: the social partners in transportation and logistics place competitiveness at the heart of their new collective agreement

“I’m really glad we reached an agreement after a few days of discussion with the obvious aim of helping Danish businesses be more competitive.”  Karsten Dybvad, leader of DI, rejoiced with the agreement signed on February 23 between DI and 3F Transport*, renewing the collective agreement in logistics and transport (Lager-og Transportoverenskomsten) known as “common collective agreement” (Fællesoverenskomsten), the key collective agreement in the sector which sets the tone for all the others.  Jan Villadsen, leader of 3F Transport, pointed to “enhanced security throughout the professional career.”  Admitting that “there is no result on pay,” he explained, “we’re in the middle of a severe crisis and negotiations were tough.  We would need to see the evolution more than two years ahead.  Between 2007 and 2010, our members received high wage increases that significantly increased their buying power” he pointed out.
