On 18 May the Danish government reached a deal with the country’s social democratic party and the People’s Party on a new type of unemployment benefit for freelance and so-called atypical workers. The government took this approach having been inspired heavily by recommendations put forward by a working group (see article n°10202). The move takes the future of Denmark’s labour market into consideration and seeks to encourage people to be entrepreneurial.
The labour market of the future. The agreement appears to be a crucial step in building the labour market of the future and coincides with the unveiling of the government’s ‘Plan 2025’, which is aiming to increase the quantity of manpower available, to better integrate young people into the labour market, and to allow people to work for longer, should they choose to do so.
