From January 10th to 12th, the German trade union for services ver.di invited 45 colleagues from Germany, China and the United States to a new conference in Leipzig. Objective: to build a trade-union alliance between the international workers' representatives of DHL, a subsidiary company gathering all the express, parcel and logistics activities of Deutsche Post. “We want to oppose to DHL management, which operates in the whole world, a trade-union network that also operates in the whole world”, explained Rolf Büttner, vice-president of ver.di during the conference, which gathered rade unionists and employees of the three main air cargo centers of DHL, installed in Hong Kong, Wilmington in the United States and Leipzig. According to Rolf Büttner, such an international alliance would be unprecedented in the trade-union history.
