European deputies passed by a very large majority (570 votes for, 16 against, 49 abstentions) the draft Directive on protection against the risks due to optical radiations, approved beforehand in conciliation committee between the Parliament and the Council. The Council must now adopt it before its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. The joint position of the Council was modified by some parliamentary amendments.
