Welcome to Estonia! This was the banner slogan under which the country’s confederation of employers’, Eesti Tööandjate Keskliit’s annual conference was held at the beginning of March and which focused on the hotly debated political issue of immigration. For Estonia’s employers, a shortage of manpower is currently the most pressing problem for the country’s development. This is why the confederation has called for a national debate on a new immigration policy, a call that is in line with employers’ positions in a majority of the Nordic region’s countries.
